Our u17 Footballers lined out against St.Mary’s on Friday evening under lights in Saggart.
This year the Minor competition was been replaced by u17s and the change has led to difficulties for teams who had expected to be part of a 2 year minor set up. It has meant that many of our Div 5 panel have had to step up to Div 2.

It is fair to say that over half the lads who lined out had to step up. In addition there were 2 debuts with Liam Johnston and Ryan McGeehan fielding for the first time in the blue of Skerries Harps. (Goes to show it is never too late to get involved - any lads born 2005 always welcome to come down).

The score line didn’t go our way on the night. We won the second half but 2 quick goals were the difference and we lost by 5 points. The win was there for the taking with some goal chances just not going our way but we can’t fault the effort from the lads. It goes to show the importance of a large squad and it is the focus on the entire squad over the years in both codes that helped us field and put up a good battle in Div 2. We’re looking forward to fielding both Div 5 and Div 2 teams particular in championship later in the year.
